General Position Summary: Assesses, plans, and coordinates organizational learning including training, competency and orientation programs.
Utilizes the organizational e-learning system.
Participates in coordination and planning for Continuing Medical Education programs and obtains continuing education provider/nursing support (CEUs/CMEs).
Participates in new organizational programs and planning as requested.
Collaborates with Quality Management staff to focus organization learning with the goal of decreasing patient safety events and increasing quality.
Utilizes simulation equipment and simulation lab effectively.
Instructional designer is an education professional whose role is to assess, develop, and maintain engaging educational products to support Summit Healthcare Association learning needs through the use of educational and instructional technologies.
Identifies the performance skills, knowledge, information and attitude gaps of a targeted audience and work collaboratively to create learning experiences to fill the gap.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities: Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content consistent with established design and development processes including audio, video, simulations, role play, and games, with use of principles of adult learning.
· Quickly synthesizes creates course content based on input from Subject Matter Experts (SME), written material, and previous courses.
· Set instructional objectives and creates curriculum, content and evaluation methods to meet these objectives.
· Devises modes of assessment such as tests or quizzes, to measure effectiveness of the course.
· Maintains tracking/database/spreadsheet, files and records for course development, launch and updates.
· Edits instructional and supporting materials for grammar, clarity, consistency, and accuracy of content.
· Coordinates production of instructional materials with professional development team and educators.
· Researches, analyzes, and applies trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design · Technical expert in the use of the (Learning Management System) and performs duties associated with that role · Assists users to access LMS and learning resource products · Works with related vendors to resolve problems · Develops and maintains online resources such as tutorials, reference materials, design standards, content resources, templates, and tools for instructional development Develops and collaborates on innovative programs and solutions for overall organizational mission success.
· Provides documentation of the annual plan.
· Provides documentation of outcomes of the educational programs offered.
· Administers the e-learning process.
· All other duties as assigned.
· Prepares, develops, implements/delivers, and evaluates in-service educational programs incorporating standards of practice, policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines, the nursing process, and new information and/or research findings.
· Trains staff on computer documentation systems.
· Uses computer software programs to research, develop, and track training programs.
· Provides for consultation as needed.
· Updates policy and procedures when needed as a learning resource.
· Attends educational opportunities to maintain knowledge of standards of practice in nursing/healthcare and teaching/learning principles.
· Establishes and maintains interdepartmental and interdisciplinary communication.
· Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE Behavioral Standards.
· Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.
Secondary Functions: · Conducts clerical and phone work for the Professional Development department.
· Provides LMS and educational resources help desk support · Participates in departmental and association wide informational meetings and in services, including staff meetings, association wide forums, and seminars.
· Reviews and updates department and association wide policies and procedures annually.
· All other duties as assigned.
Additional / Seasonal Responsibilities: · Participates in orientation programs for new staff Job Scope: This job involves: · Frequent new and varied work situations.

· Are made via telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face interaction.
· Are made with staff, physicians, and some patients.
Specific Job Skills: This position requires operational knowledge of all equipment in the Professional Development department, including: fax, printers, copy machine, phone systems, and commonly used computer programs in the hospital (including MS Office, e-mail, internet, and the Hospital Information System.
This employee must be service oriented and have excellent nursing skills, customer service skills, teaching skills, supervisory skills, communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills, multitasking skills, professional interpersonal skills, time management skills, the ability to prioritize work, and telephone etiquette.
Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
Education and/or Experience: · RN –Arizona License (required) · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or related area (preferred).
· Three years related experience in the use of Black Board or other LMS system to develop online content (required).
· Experience in design, layout and presentation techniques.
· Experience in HTML and the use of HTML editors.
· Experience in managing multiple projects and tasks.
· BLS/CPR/AED Certification Physical Demands & Job Conditions: Exert up to 20 lbs.
of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs.
of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demands are in excess of those of sedentary work.
Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
Physical motions include finger dexterity, standing, walking, talking, reaching, feeling, sitting, bending, grasping, listening/hearing, handling, lifting up to 20 pounds, and repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and feet.
This is considered a safety sensitive position OSHA Exposure Category: Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and are not a condition of employment.
