#### Job Overview:
We're on the lookout for a passionate and energetic basketball enthusiast to mentor and train our 8th-grade son and a few of his dedicated friends.
This isn't a call for professional coaches but for someone who loves the game, understands the fundamentals, and can bring a mix of fun and discipline to practice sessions.
You should be able to connect with young athletes, inspiring improvement and love for the game, while focusing on skill enhancement, physical fitness, and on-court IQ.
#### Key Responsibilities:
- \*\*Skill Development:\*\* Focus on essential basketball skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defensive maneuvers.
Tailor these sessions to challenge and improve his current abilities.
- \*\*Physical Conditioning:\*\* Incorporate exercises and drills that enhance physical strength, agility, and endurance specific to basketball.
- \*\*Game Understanding:\*\* Teach strategies, positioning, and basketball IQ to help him read the game better and make smart decisions on the court.
- \*\*Homework Assignments:\*\* Provide fun and engaging homework tasks (could be watching specific game segments, dribbling drills, or shooting challenges) to keep the learning going beyond the court.
- \*\*Progress Tracking:\*\* Keep a simple log of progress and areas of focus, helping him see his improvement over time and staying motivated.
- \*\*Motivation and Mentorship:\*\* Be a positive role model, offering encouragement and constructive feedback to foster a growth mindset and love for the game.
#### Requirements:
- Solid understanding of basketball fundamentals and strategies (previous playing experience required).
- Great communication skills and the ability to connect with young athletes.
- Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude in teaching and mentoring.
- Availability for a minimum of 5 hour-long sessions per week, either early or later afternoons.
Longer session can be scheduled on weekends.
The hours are flexible but need to be consistent so that there is skill growth.
We don't have access to an indoor court at this time so it would also be based on weather.
- A background check may be required, given the nature of the role.
#### Location:
- Sessions will primarily take place at local basketball courts or our half court on site in Snowflake.
Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to the specified location.
#### Compensation:
- $30-$40 on hour based on your ability to coach and the work you put into making sure skills are improving.
