*CITY OF GLOBE* *Battalion Chief of Administration and Training* *Job Posting No.
23-26* The City of Globe is currently seeking applicants for an EXEMPT (not eligible for overtime) Grade 21 Battalion Chief of Administration and Training position in the Fire Department.
This position actively promotes the City’s stated mission and values and the mission and values of the Globe Fire Department.
Under the direct supervision of the Fire Chief, this position performs a variety of administrative and managerial duties for the Fire Department; to serve as a Chief Officer in directing responses and readiness activities and provide administrative support to the Fire Chief.
*SUPERVISION EXERCISED* Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the Battalion Chief exercises supervision over sworn staff.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* · Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
· Ensures all efforts are planned and implemented with attention to policy, accuracy, safety, and established practices.
· Keeps Fire Chief apprised of current and planned operations, challenges, and opportunities.
· Communicates and enforces City and Department rules, regulations, and procedures.
· Attends, hosts, and/or leads meetings representing the Division, Department, and/or City.
· Prepares and presents professional quality oral and written reports.
· Identification of trends and new metrics to communicate progress, success, and challenges.
· Prepares, evaluates, and/or recommends policies, procedures, regulations, and personnel actions, as needed.
· Manages systems related to scheduling, documentation, training, payroll and benefits.
· Develops and maintains effective relationships with interagency partners on a local, regional, and national level: Serves as City/Department representative to a variety of collaborative efforts.
· Directs grant, donation, and contract efforts, including invoice preparation and submission.
· Manages the Department’s Incident Qualification System (IQS), to include Task Books, individual qualifications and Incident Qualification Cards, the Department’s Call-Out program, and annual Wildfire Refresher training.
· Develops, submits, and tracks invoices related to reimbursable emergency incidents.
· Develops subordinates to their individual maximum level of competence.
· Responds to emergencies in a supervisory and technical capacity.
· Assists Department senior staff and Fire Administration personnel with development and accomplishment of Dept.
goals and objectives.
· Develops and implements a comprehensive personnel training program to meet certification and best practice standards to include management of online training platforms.
· Oversee post incident reviews.
· Ability to effectively perform at the strategic, tactical and task level during fireground operations.
· Performs other duties, as may be assigned from time to time.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* · Must be 18 years or older at time of employment.
· No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven (7) years.
· Must be a U.
S.
citizen.
· Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver’s license.
· Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
*Education and Experience:* · Associate’s degree in Fire Science, a related discipline or Business/Public Management (Bachelor’s degree preferred) · Three years of supervisory experience · Qualified, per National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) as an Engine Boss or higher (preferred) · Experience working with either the Incident Qualification System (IQS) or the Incident Qualification Command System (IQCS) (preferred) · Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the minimum requirements · Strong computer skills including MS Office and online records management/training systems *Benefits: *Generous, low-cost health care benefits and dependent care including dental, vision and life insurances, participation in the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), paid vacation, sick and 11 paid holidays, and much more.
