*Overview:* We are seeking a reliable and experienced Transport Driver and Maintenance Worker to join our team.
As a Transport Driver *and* Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting our senior citizens and materials to designated locations.
This is a vital role in our organization, ensuring the safety of our seniors at all times.
*Your duties will include but are not limited to maintaining equipment, operating a variety of vehicles, including those requiring the operation of a wheelchair lift, vehicle and building maintenance, janitorial work, properly packing home-delivered meals (meals on wheels), and providing transportation to and from doctor appointments and other appointments deemed necessary by the director.
* *Duties:* * Safely operate company vehicles to transport senior citizens and meals on wheels * Safely load and unload our seniors.
Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and secure packaging * Plan routes and schedules to optimize efficiency and meet delivery deadlines * Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety protocols * Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to ensure proper maintenance and functionality * Complete necessary paperwork, such as delivery logs, mileage reports, and vehicle inspection forms * Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise with our senior citizens * Assess mental and physical status of clients at the time of delivery, reporting back to the director or secretary any abnormalities observed, including if no one answers the door so that follow-up can be made * Fuel up vehicles on an as-needed basis * Keep vehicle clean inside and out * Lock up all vehicles at the end of each workday and make sure the keys are turned in * Assist individuals in entering and exiting the vehicles upon request * Record services delivered to each individual on a daily basis * Turn in records *units* of service on individuals to the designated person at the end of each month for compilations * Properly pack home-delivered meals and deliver those listed on the meal delivery sheet * Obtain client(s) signature to acknowledge receipt of meals on a daily basis * Turn in the completed meal delivery sheet at the end of the month (log should match signatures obtained) * Turn on and off heating and cooling systems (swamp coolers, furnaces) * Perform heavy cleaning for the agency including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, cleaning carpets, stripping and waxing floors, painting, building maintenance, etc.
* Perform yard work to include but not limited to mowing, watering, weeding and hauling away debris, general upkeep of on-site grounds * Gather and haul firewood for heating, including chopping wood into usable sizes * Maintain and care for all work tools and work storage area, including making sure storage areas are locked up at the end of each working day and equipment is put away * Record services delivered to each individual on a daily basis * Turn in complete and signed work order forms * Load and unload trucks, stock food and food service supplies as needed * Perform general on-site maintenance and repairs * Perform other duties assigned * Maintain client confidentiality at all times *Requirements:* * High school diploma or GED equivalent * Any equivalent combination of education and experience * Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities * Skill in the operation of some of the listed tools and equipment * Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
* *Special requirements:* Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, must obtain a valid state driver’s license and/or CDL certification or ability to obtain one, current CPR certification, and current food handlers permit.
Applicant must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check, TB test, and agree to take the PASS (Passenger Assistance Safety Sensitivity Course) from the CTAA.
*Tools and Equipment Used:* Motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, senior center van with lift, lawn mowers, weed eaters, various other yard tools, building repair tools, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, and mobile phone.
