Job summary
Carpenters can work in a range of different settings, but most jobs will include duties such as taking measurements, reading blueprints or plans for proposed work, sourcing materials, setting up job site and installation or construction of structures and components.
Duties and responsibilities
Prepare the layout of projects, estimate height, width, length, and other proportions, and select proper material
Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisor
Work with materials such as wood, drywall, or sheet metal
Work with carpentry hand tools and equipment
Check work along the way to ensure its up to code and specifications
Work with prefabricated buildings, build stairs, fabricate rebar, fabricate forms, set Simon forms
Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level
Replace windows, doors, ceiling tiles along with other general TI work
Building framing, install metal siding, repair roofing
Adhere to all rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on site
Meet or exceed company safety standards
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
Minimum Five (5) years’ experience
Must possess the hand tools required to complete their assigned duties
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures
A positive attitude, self-motivated, eagerness to learn and a willingness to work hard every day
An ability to lead by a positive example and a commitment to working as a team
Attention and commitment to safety and an ability to follow instructions
Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record if assigned to a company vehicle
Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Working conditions
Must be able to accommodate customer needs by working flexible hours which may include weekends
Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, vibrations and a wet and /or humid environment
Physical requirements
Requires walking, sitting, standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, grasping, crouching, stooping reaching and repetitive motions to a significant degree
Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
